The Disturbed bao “GAMER”

The journey of exploration is up and seriously on....

We are in an odyssey and today it saw us starting from Tanga to Arusha where we are now when I write these words. We had small stop for lunch at Same. There is this nice shady hotel called Elefant motel where we stopped some other time with the Hilight team.

This time it was specially good to meet my fellow Maasai elder whom we had a wonderful moment to meet and exchange as it is with maasai when they just meet. The most wonderful thing this man said was looking at Leif typing a blog on his computer and he remembered some other white people who have passed this place during the day and they sit by themselves on this thing for hours. To him this computer looks like it is maasai elders who play the bao game.

Bao game is a greatest pastime for most Maasai elders and other in Tanzania but it is never played alone. In this and several other instances he has seen white people play this game by themselves and they looked like thinking hard, challenged in their facial expressions, being isolated and lonely but just going on for ours on and dont seem to be reaching anything to soften their disturbed facial expressions while on the game.

Are they always losing the game and therefore end with the look of a disturbed losing gamer????

He always wondered. He never met or had no one to ask until today when he sees one whiteman with this Maasai man who is like sinking in his own personal bao game while we, him and me are chatting our moments away with laughter in this light hearted mood. Just happy to meet as two elders of the same age group. In this instance however, he has someone to ask on his wonders about the personal bao game right before his eyes in the table he was sharing.

As a Metafarian....what would you think of this comaprison from the diverse perspectives of a man of this age who wonders about the this disturbing bao game which gamers seems to be always on the losing side????!!!!!

I think this is the key passage:

"Are they always losing the game and therefore end with the look of a disturbed losing gamer????"

What does this observation tell us?

Lost in the sense of no elders around
There in the sense of communicating through the 'Bao' with other 'players'not physically present but still in a way there
Lost in the sense of not being present but elsewhere
There in the sense of mastering the new technique, mastering the contacts to make it all work
Lost if it all should fail...

Obviously we don't sit by the computer with a smile when we try to connect and interact electronically with our fellow world.

Why? A common unaware approach as a "loosing bao gamer". you have to think about the meaning and it's consequences here!
