Meeting, connecting, exchanging in Dar es Salaam

I interview Rafel about today. Rafael, what do you want to say..

-First of all it was the Day 1 of our presence around here. For you, Leif, to be aquainted with the city, the surroundings, temparuture, chaos and congestion.

-Also, well on the road to meet, exchange, and connect. Today we first went to the Vodacom head office for communication connectivity. We met a nice woman who assisted us and was eternally helpful to get us connected. Her name is Dora. She had all the patience to share, assist and direct us. The result was that we are now able to connect to Internet with all the gadgets we are bringing along.

-After a lunch at the City Garden we went for an appointment to meet Ernest Mtanga, whose name we got thrugh a friend of Leif. Ernest is an art teacher at Tanzania Academy School. He brought lots of energy to assist us in our thoughts, and with him we went to a Solar Power store and to a lawyer he knew.

-One of the peculiar thing with Ernest is that he lives in Dar es Salaam, but in a place where there is no electricity. From this he took us to a lawyer with whom we had a very interesting exchange, because of his enthusiasm and his interest in the HiLight. So it seems that charging power and light, off the grid, captures every level of Tanzanians, be it in the capitol city or the rural areas. Showing the HiLight brings people to awareness that there could be alternatives to the traditional power grid.

-This man asked interesting questions around the feasibility of the lamp. It almost felt as if he was willing to buy a couple of HiLights for his home area in Shinyanga. He was interested in meeting up with Linda and Kristina when they return to Dar.

Now, Rafael, for some Metareflections from today.

-To me, it wonderful to meet again, and to be in Dar. We have tried to exchange and to get into each other. But the first day is always to arrange and to get into things. Now we are exhausted, and ready to go to bed, to continue as soon as we are able to continue….
